In connection with this

proposal, I would observe tnat

music qualifications have been

required in the case of several

vacancies for assistant mistresses

in recent years, and that a number

of women have been selected who have

possessed such qualifications.

It

should be possible in the case of

future vacancies for assistant

mistresses, and it might be possible

also in the case of one or two

vacancies for European masters to

select candidates well qualified

for the teaching of singing and

music as well as for ordinary class

duties. Pending further consideration

of app ig

of the question regarding a music

master, I would suggest that

attention should be given

the

possibility of developing music
